Sophie & Will
Burley Manor Wedding
Love is firmly back on the agenda and this DIY Barn Wedding in the New Forest was a kaleidoscope of colour, fun and perhaps in a nod to the year we have just had, an ode to the zoom call. But there was no buffering on the weather, with the sun beaming down on this Burley Manor Wedding on one of the hottest days of the year. Will and Sophie were one of my many fabulous couples who were originally due to get married in 2020 but had to postpone due to the pandemic. Despite all the stress, it was worth the wait!
The scene for their rescheduled big day, was set by a cacophony of colourful florals from Arcade Flowers, one of the many local new forest based suppliers who were used to bring this big day together. They provided both centre pieces for the tables and decoration for Burley Manor, but also delicate flowers for the bridal parties hair. A bohemian finish to Sophie’s whimsical Heaton gown by Wtoo from Watters bridal. This dreamlike ivory gown featured an off-the-shoulder, lingerie lace corset bodice with a soft A-Line skirt. The delicate skirt was finished off with a ribbon waistband detail to define the waist. The bride and her bridesmaid blossomed with hair and make-up by Jenny D make-up.
The day started with bridal prep at Burley manor and groom prep at Will’s parents’ new forest home – which we went back to for a relaxed evening garden party reception after the traditional wedding breakfast at Burley Manor. Will’s best man was his brother, who had the guests in hysterics after the meal with an unforgettable best man speech. The speech had all the embarrassing stories and quips about their antics growing up, accompanied by a slideshow of equally cringe worthy images and videos. It wasn’t just the best man getting in on the act with video messages from guests who were unable to make the celebrations due to covid restrictions were featured on screen. A special cameo was also made by Paul Elliot, from the great British comedy duo – The Chuckle Brothers. Will took it all very well despite being truly humiliated by his brother, an example of brotherly love at its finest.
DIY New Forest Wedding
Mimicking the décor of the rustic barn style of Burley Manor, which had been beautifully styled by The House of Styling, Will’s parents’ had decorated their barn in the garden. This provided the backdrop for dancing, a help yourself drinks bar and a local spread of cheese and charcuterie platter, sourced locally by new Ringwood business ‘Fromage to yours’. An advantage of the change of location was the chance to swap around some guests, so their nieces and nephews could participate in the evening reception (and the family golden retriever). Amazing, vibrant, bright biodegradable paper confetti, the more the merrier – made brilliant photos! So good we did it twice, first after the ceremony at Burley manor and another confetti throw back at the new forest home so the children could be involved.
I hope looking through these Burley manor wedding images brings some colour back into your day and if you’re interested in having me capture your special day then please get in touch so we can have a chat (maybe over a cheeky drink too).
